The increase in electricity in July for Sardinian campsites is close to 300% compared to the same month the year before. A bloodletting that risks sending them ko despite the return to the pre-covid numbers. This was communicated by the Faita Sardegna association, also highlighting the paradox of a leading sector in the non-consumption of the soil but penalized precisely by the lack of overbuilding.
«Not having important covered areas – affirms the president of Faita Sardegna Nicola Napolitano regretfully – we cannot invest in renewable energies such as photovoltaics, forcing ourselves, who make respect for the environment our strength, to supply ourselves from more polluting energy sources as well as more expensive for our budgets».
The out-of-control increase in electricity significantly affects the budgets of outdoor tourism activities. «A cost that we entrepreneurs are taking on ourselves – specifies the president of Faita Sardegna – because we cannot pass it on to customers and charge four euros instead of one for coffee overnight. Especially during the current season, when we had already drawn up the new price lists with about the same prices as in previous years».
The camping association appeals to national and regional institutions. Indeed Napolitano concludes: «An immediate public intervention is necessary to contain the costs in the bill, perhaps in the form of a tax credit. At the same time, it is also necessary to guarantee our facilities the installation of photovoltaic panels for the production of clean energy that allows us to reduce costs. At this moment we feel discriminated against as we cannot even think of light shading structures where to install them».
