Les Genêts turns 50 and becomes Camping Qualité

In 1973, Francine and Guy Veyrac, well-known wine and spirits merchants in the city of Rodez, made a choice that would begin an exciting adventure in the hospitality industry. Taking inspiration from the family land, the Veyracs decided to create a campground on the shores of scenic Pareloup Lake. This initiative marked the embryo of a project that would grow over time.

Since opening, the campsite has been classified as a 3-star establishment, hosting 100 pitches. Francine and Guy Veyrac did not lose sight of the objective of constantly improving the outdoor hotel sector in the Aveyron. Their dedication manifested itself through the development of ever more complete and attractive services, the introduction of engaging animations, the construction of a swimming pool and the addition of various types of rental accommodation. From the first Trigano canvas bungalows to the cozy ‘Fabre 2012’ chalets, locally made in Aveyron, to the modern mobile homes, each addition has helped raise the level of the campsite.

The constant presence of the Veyrac family at camping fairs abroad, in the Netherlands, Belgium and England, has led Aveyron gastronomy to cross national borders. Meanwhile, family succession has begun to flourish within the campsite. Laure Dalbin and Franck Veyrac, two of Francine and Guy’s children, entered the hospitality industry by experimenting with all aspects of operation, from cleaning and hospitality to maintenance and entertainment. In 2007, they officially took over the management of the Les Genêts campsite, continuing the work of adapting it to customer needs.

A further milestone was achieved this year: Les Genêts was awarded the fifth star on 18 July 2023. The Camping Qualité label has been awarded since 1999, together with recognition by the main European guides such as ANWB, ACSI and ADAC , represents tangible evidence of the quality developed in 50 years of activity within the French campsite.
