The Travel d’Or is a French event of international scope conceived by Frédéric Vanhoutte , founder of Eventiz Media Group, a much-awaited kermesse among those in the industry and beyond that pays tribute to their skills and creativity in their field of expertise.
Among the winners of the 2024 edition are two major outdoor vacation brands: Yelloh! Village and Campings.com.
The categories and the award ceremony
The award ceremony was based on the votes of French people who from February 7 to March 7, 2024 give their preferences based on ten categories:
- Transportation (rail, air, road)
- Outdoor accommodations
- Hotels
- Homes for tourists
- French destination
- Foreign tourist office
- Tour operator
- Advertisement
- Online booking platform
- Travel agency
Audience votes determined a ranking of five finalist brands per category. Task of the prize jury, chaired by Frédéric Mazzella, president and founder ofBlaBlaCar, select the overall winner for each category.
The Jury also awarded three Special Prizes in the categories: Start-up, Green Action and Prix d’honneur.
In the category “Campsites, resorts,” the winner was the chain Yelloh! Village, a French brand of high-end camping-villages, created in 2000 by Bernard Sauvaire , which today has 93 campsites in France, Spain and Portugal. Dynamic and highly regarded reality that beat off competition from Camping Paradis, Siblu, Camping Maeva and Marvilla Parks to win the award.
In the category “Online booking platforms,” it was the site Campings.com that took first place, followed byVeepee, Maeva, Booking and Central Cruise. Jérôme Mercier , president of Campings.com, does not hide his satisfaction: “An extraordinary recognition, the award proves that a platform 100% Made in France has nothing to envy to foreign giants.”
