Sardinia: Northwest excel, camping facilities also in high demand

Northwest Sardinia recorded a strong June compared to last year, a promising incipit to the 2024 summer season. A more than positive balance sheet compiled through data from Federalberghi-Confcommercio provincial Sassari on a sample of 35 percent of all accommodations operating in the province. Camping facilities in this area also saw an increase.

The capital city Alghero, which rose to the podium of Sardinian vacations in 2023 as the queen destination of the northwest, records excellent numbers for June 2024, as does the Gulf of Asinara. The data show that the bed occupancy index reached 64.53 percent compared to 53.79 percent in the same month 2023, while the room occupancy index reached 72.82 percent, breaking away from the same figure of the previous year, which stood at 62.23 percent.

Federalberghi Confcommercio Provincia di Sassari President Stefano Visconti said: “The first typically summer month, unequivocally driven by the marine beach product set occupancies up very sharply from the previous year, which was already satisfactory for the industry. A valuable asset, that of the environmental context, capable of persuading more and more tourists to choose our destination, despite the fierce competition exerted by competing destinations such as Greece, Spain, North Africa, Croatia and Albania“.
