Faita Federcamping Conference: ‘THE FUTURE IS OPEN AIR’. Lake Garda at the center of sustainable tourism

It will be FAITA-Federcamping President Alberto Granzotto who will open the proceedings of the conference entitled “THE FUTURE IS OPEN AIR: Lake Garda at the Center of Sustainable Tourism,” which will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Dogana Veneta, piazzetta A. Partenio 13 in Lazise.

An opportunity to take stock and focus attention on an increasingly relevant sector in the Italian tourism landscape: open air. Facilities are being renovated, and turnovers are rewarding companies’ investments in environmental sustainability, inclusion and digitalization, relevant factors in an increasingly growing sector that nationally is worth 8 billion in revenues per year, with 11.4 million arrivals in 2024 (+3.5% over 2023) and 71 million presences (+1.3% over 2023).

Leading the ranking of open-air tourism supply is still Veneto, which on the beds front accounts for 17.5 percent of the national total, along with Tuscany (14 percent). Far behind are Puglia and Emilia Romagna, which concentrate 7.3% and 7% of beds respectively, followed by Lombardy, with 6.8%. The latter, however, ranks 2nd after Tuscany in terms of number of facilities: 8.3% of those in Italy.

The conference will host experts in the field, an important moment of discussion that will highlight how Lake Garda is positioning itself as a leading destination in Europe for quality and environmentally friendly tourism, and an opportunity to delve into the strategies and innovations that are transforming this location into a model of open-air tourism excellence.

Data but also curiosities and perspectives of outdoor tourism, from Lake Garda to the coast, will be covered at the conference, issues at the center of a conference organized by FAITA Federcamping, the industry’s most representative federation.

Speakers included the regional councillors for tourism of Veneto and Lombardy Federico Caner and Barbara Mazzali, the president of the Conference of Mayors of the Veneto Coast Roberta Nesto, the mayor of the Municipality of Lazise Damiano Bergamini, CISET research area manager Valeria Minghetti, HBenchmark Ceo Francesco Traverso, university professors and industry entrepreneurs such as Sergio Redaelli, CEO Crippaconcept, the largest production company of mobile home for outdoor tourism certified “Made in Italy.”

Gianluca Semprini, RAI journalist, will moderate the conference.
