Milan Design Week 2025: preview of the Olympic and Paralympic Village in Cortina d’Ampezzo, a modular “mobile home” solution

An in-depth look at the innovation of modular design and reuse in Olympic infrastructure will be presented at Milan Design Week 2025: Società Infrastrutture Milano Cortina and Fondazione Milano Cortina will exhibit an exclusive installation, dedicated to the Village of Cortina d’Ampezzo in view of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Appointment April 7 to 13, at Piazza del Compasso d’Oro 1, at ADI Museo del Design, to see a preview of the housing experience designed to accommodate the athletes of the XXV Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The initiative emphasizesmodular design innovation, sustainability and reuse of temporary infrastructure.

The project

What sets the proposal apart is itscircular approach, based on the use of modular, mobile home solutions on wheels that do not involve land consumption: the structures do not require permanent foundations and will be removed in their entirety at the end of competitions. This makes them fully reusable in the open-air hospitality sector.

The modules are EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) Certified, and ensure a low environmental impact throughout their lifecycle; in addition, they are designed to ensure inclusive and accessible hospitality for all, in line with the Olympic values of equality, diversity and respect.

377 mobile housing solutions and modular facilities ensure barrier-free housing, placing the well-being of each athlete at the center and providing flexible solutions for different needs, with 50 percent of the units fully accessible.
