SIMICO, Società Infrastrutture Milano Cortina, and Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, in collaboration with Crippaconcept, a leading Italian company in the design and production of mobile home, presented the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic village model.
The installation was proposed on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2025, on display in Piazza del Compasso d’Oro 1, at ADI Museo del Design. The ribbon was cut yesterday and it will be open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., until April 13.
Present at the presentation event were the Undersecretary of State, Alessandro Morelli, the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, and the Councillor for Infrastructure, Claudia Terzi.


State-of-the-art sustainable design focusing on barrier-free hospitality
The initiative emphasizesmodular design innovation, sustainability, and the reuse of temporary infrastructure that is perfectly removable and adaptable again, including in the manyopen-air facilities in the Alpine context.
The Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Village is proposed as a solution that aims for sustainability, without architectural barriers, under the banner ofinclusiveness.
In addition to the presentation of the exhibition, thematic insights, moments of public meeting and in-depth discussion with two panels dedicated to stakeholders and media kicked off in the Foyer of ADI Museo del Design.
On the occasion of the panel “The architecture and innovation of the Olympic and Paralympic Village Milan Cortina 2026“, speakers included Fabio Saldini, Government Commissioner and CEO of Simico, Andrea Varnier, CEO of Milano Cortina Foundation, Veronica Vecchi, President of Simico, Marie Sollais, IOC Sustainability Department Director, Sergio Redaelli, Crippacamping Administrator, and Carlo Berizzi, Professor University of Pavia.
Fabio Massimo Saldini, government commissioner and ad Simic, said, “There is great satisfaction because we were able to address, after seeing the Olympic Village in Paris, the problem of housing in Cortina, adapting the technology to the availability of the place. These are 377 cottages where 1,400 athletes and trainers will be housed in a fantastic location, with the possibility of reusing the cottages elsewhere, which are sustainable, made from recycled materials and universally accessible. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for October “.
On the issue of sustainability, the guiding line of SIMICO’s governance, President Veronica Vecchi spoke, saying, “The goal is to contribute to the spread and consolidation of a modus operandi in the public works sector based on innovation, environmental sustainability and transparency to generate value for society and its stakeholders.”
