Tuscany, new rules also affecting open-air tourism: classification up to 5 stars arrives

Regulations implementing in full the new Consolidated Tourism Act of Tuscany, which came into force last December, have been approved. The measure is a key step in modernizing and simplifying the regional tourism sector, offering more effective tools to operators and promoting a sustainable and balanced model of land use.

Underlining the importance of the regulation is the president of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, who called the measure,“A fundamental step toward simplifying regulations and enhancing the Tuscan tourism sector, harmonizing rules and supporting local businesses.”

The president highlighted how the new Consolidated Act aims to combine economic development, sustainability and the protection of cultural and landscape heritage, accelerating practices to foster the competitiveness of one of Italy’s most relevant tourist destinations.

Economy and Tourism Councilor Leonardo Marras added: “The approval of the regulations concludes the phase of defining regulatory tools for tourism. Tuscany now has a clear and complete framework, with simple rules and modern tools to qualify the offer, improve services and ensure a sustainable and balanced use of the territory “. He adds, “This lays a solid foundation for the future growth of the industry.”

Among the main new features of the regulation is the new classification of open-air accommodations: campgrounds, tourist villages and marina resorts will be able to obtain a classification of up to five stars, a system designed to enhance the quality of services and adapt to the new demands of contemporary tourism.

With this regulation, Tuscany consolidates its position as a tourism destination of excellence, focusing on regulatory innovation, quality and sustainability, with a view to balanced and lasting growth for the entire sector.
