PiNCAMP, the camping portal of ADAC, ANWB and TCS, analyzed data from German campers at https://www.pincamp.de and published the Top 100 Most Popular Campsites 2025 in Europe, a study conducted in the January-September 2025 period, compared with the January-September 2024 period.

The top ten: German campsites leading the way
The Top 100 most popular campsites in Europe are dominated by Germany (30), Croatia (29) and Italy (27). Specifically: 86 of the 100 most popular campsites in Europe are from Germany, Croatia and Italy.

The best new entries are Valamar Camping Resort Lanterna of Croatia, in fourth place, and Campofelice Camping Village of Switzerland, in ninth place.
Significant data from German open-air tourism: bookings ahead and increasingly online
The analysis conducted reveals other noteworthy data regarding outdoor tourism in Germany. As reported by PiNCAMP, German campers usually book their main summer vacations well in advance, already at the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the season and in July and August, searches and reservations are made spontaneously, depending on the weather (sometimes from one day to the next). As confirmed by Uwe Frers, CEO of PiNCAMP, “Campsites that can be booked online and have sufficient availability are the most popular with PiNCAMP users.”
Another interesting finding also emerged: German campers are becoming more digitally inclined as they increasingly search for and book open air facilities online. For the 2026 season, Frers predicts a further increase in campsites that can be booked online and a sharply growing demand: “Already, the first campsites for summer 2026 are being searched and booked on PiNCAMP.de.”
