Nordic Camping Experience: Sweden and Norway work in synergy for open-air tourism

The project is called Nordic Camping Experience and is promoted by Svensk Camping, and by the Norwegian Norsk Turistutvikling and NHO Reiseliv, with support from Innlandet Fylkeskommune. The initiative covers the camping sector in the Swedish and Norwegian counties located along the border between the two countries, and has a total budget of about SEK 13 million, approximately EUR 1.22 million.

The project will last three years and will see the implementation of international marketing activities, such as joint participation in trade fairs, press trips and the development of joint digital solutions focused on the industry’s presence in an environment characterized by marketing increasingly based on artificial intelligence.

An organized plan that aims to introduce the international public to the beauty of this border region, which includes the affected areas of Västra Götaland, Värmland, Dalarna, Jämtland e Västernorrland on the Swedish side, and Innlandet e Trøndelag on the Norwegian side.

Martin Juhos, managing director of Svensk Camping, says, “The industry’s growth is concentrated in Europe, and together with Norway, we are a stronger destination. With Nordic Camping Experience we now have the opportunity to increase investment in a region that has the natural potential to take on a much greater role in Europe. This will have positive effects for the entire industry “.

Kjell Ove Solbakken, managing director of Norsk Turistutvikling for campingnæringen, adds, “Guests often view the Nordic countries as a single destination and wish to visit both Sweden and Norway. By collaborating across borders, we can better meet demand and create more attractive offers “.

The camping sector plays a crucial role in regional development, a leading sector for Sweden and Norway, creating the conditions for successful destinations. Nordic Camping Experience will be a driving force for the economy of both countries, able to work in synergy.
