This summer, arrivals and presences at Italian campsites will return to pre-pandemic levels. This was stated by a Confcommercio-Assocamp survey on data from Faita-FederCamping and Google trends, which predicts 10.5 million arrivals and over 69 million presences for the open-air tourism sector alone. The merit is above all of the full return of foreigners, after two summers in which travel from abroad was severely limited due to the restrictions for the containment of covid-19.<\/p>\n\n
The Confcommercio-Assocamp survey offers an overview of the changes taking place in the open-air tourism sector, photographing the needs and propensities of travelers who rely on online navigation to decide the destination of their next vacation. For 85% of the structures interviewed, the 2022 season will close with a growth of 30% compared to the previous year. There was also a slight but significant increase in the average length of stays in campsites, from 6 to 6.6 days, returning to the trends of before the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n
As for the modalities, bookings for maxicaravans and “lodge tents”, the so-called luxury tents, are growing. Free pitches for installing customer tents are more stable (+ 10%), while bookings for those equipped for recreational vehicles such as campers and caravans rise (+ 15%), confirming the trend already recorded in 2021. Second the entrepreneurs interviewed, tourists’ attention is growing for recreational and sports services and for a refined restaurant, with local food and wine products. The presence of beaches equipped with innovative services is also very popular. Prices remained generally stable, in some cases they recorded slight increases, mainly linked to expensive energy and increases in raw materials.<\/p>\n\n
In addition, the study reports user search trends on Google on themes related to motorhomes, campsites and tourist villages, in the period between May 2016 and April 2021. Among the various places examined, the survey highlights an increase of 36 % in people’s propensity to move to national parks, public beaches, marinas, dog areas, squares and public gardens; not to mention that the camper is certainly an excellent opportunity to follow the wave of the so-called “slow tourism”, in which the traveler has the opportunity to move from one destination to another at his own pace and with better opportunities to extend his stay optimizing costs and benefits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
