Nicolas Dayot has been re-elected for his third and, as he said, \u201cfinal term\u201d as president of the National Federation of Open-Air Hotels (FNHPA). This announcement came during the annual conference held October 10-12 in Niort, France.<\/p>\n\n
Dayot commented on his re-election by stating: “It is a change in continuity because there was only one list to vote for.” However, it should be noted that a member of the office gave up his position out of personal choice. Within the PACA regional federation, Vincent Gailledrat replaced Michel Nore. This decision is a reflection of the collective approach with which the FNHPA chooses to act, with tasks distributed equally among members.<\/p>\n\n
One of the main problems faced by the FNHPA concerns the loss of tourist beds. Dayot highlighted a worrying trend in which, between 2020 and 2023, 76,000 tourist beds disappeared. Much of this loss was caused by the closure of municipal campgrounds and small campsites.<\/p>\n\n
To address this challenge, the FNHPA focuses on a number of objectives, including safeguarding reception capacity. In this case the strategy includes securing campsites exposed to natural risks, their repositioning and the proposal of supports suited to the needs of modern campers and ecological expectations.<\/p>\n\n
Nicolas Dayot is determined to preserve the social role of open air structures, focusing on margins, volume and price. This goal has been “influenced” by recent debates on overtourism.<\/p>\n\n
Dayot commented on the French Tourism Minister’s initiative to address peak attendance, but also highlighted that labeling the entire French territory as “overtourism” could have negative effects on the growth of the tourism sector. FNHPA is geared towards promoting volume and value, a decline in volume could harm the entire industry.<\/p>\n\n
The FNHPA recognizes the need for investments for the ecological transition and the qualitative improvement of the offer and services in the outdoor hospitality sector.<\/p>\n\n
Nicolas Dayot has expressed his intention to prepare the ground for a succession.
