Blooms are a seasonal must in \n The Netherlands<\/em>\n<\/strong>, one of Europe’s most popular springtime destinations. You are in for a trip to the beauty of the Dutch landscapes, which from mid-March until mid-May <\/strong>color the flat expanses with an incredible variety of tulips<\/strong>, much more than just flowers, true national symbols. Some areas of the country are especially renowned for admiring them, perfect destinations for a beautiful spring break. <\/p>\n\n

One of the ideal times to go is the bridge of April 25 since the 27th of the same month is the celebration of the \n Koningsdag<\/em>\n<\/strong>, Queen’s Day in honor of the coronation of Queen Beatrix. It is one of the most heartfelt celebrations in the Netherlands, when parades, processions, themed parties are organized, and every corner of the country is decorated with strictly orange decorations and gadgets, the national color. A major event lasting until April 30, King William Alexander’s birthday. <\/p>\n\n

Whatever the time of year for a spring getaway to Holland, let’s find out where to go and what camping facilities to stay in for a vacation dedicated to nature, authentic traditions and their myriad colors.<\/p>\n\n

Emmeloord<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The first destination to admire the tulip blooms is \n Emmeloord<\/em>\n<\/strong>, <\/em>a small town in the province of \n Flevoland<\/em>\n<\/strong>, in the northeast of the Netherlands, located 69 kilometers southwest of Amsterdam. This is where the Tulip Festival<\/strong>, it is also just a step away from the beautiful ‘IJsselmeer<\/em><\/strong>, the country’s largest lake, fed by many rivers and isolated from the sea by an artificial dam, a destination that has much to offer travelers who want to spend a vacation surrounded by greenery. <\/p>\n\n

In and around Emmeloord<\/em> you will find 9 good camping facilities<\/strong>. Any advice? The \n Camping Eigen Wijze<\/em>\n<\/strong> offers a vacation with all comforts and solutions with private sanitary facilities. The \n Camping ‘t Urkerbos<\/em>\n<\/strong> is ideal for those traveling with a four-legged friend, while for water lovers even in late spring, the \n Camping Het Bosbad<\/em>\n<\/strong> offers access to the beautiful swimming pool. For those who want to experience something new, try glamping \n Netl de Wildste Tuin – Recreatiepark en camping.<\/em>\n<\/strong>, while if you are looking for a minimalist solution, pitch your tent at the\n Camping De Veenkuil – Staatsbosbeheer<\/em>\n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Haarlem<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

\n Haarlem<\/em>\n<\/strong> is located in North Holland, just 17 km east of Amsterdam. The city is a Flemish enchantment, a maze of narrow alleys, small squares and small bridges crossing canals. Treat yourself to a stop at some pub or restaurant for a Jopen<\/em>, the intense local beer, to go with bitterballen<\/em>, the delicious fried meatballs to dip in mustard, and then continue your visit to explore the city. Scout out some hofjes<\/em>, the courtyard-gardens of old hospices: there are 21 of them, hidden behind simple doors and gates, “secret spaces” that turn into little edens during spring. <\/p>\n\n

Leave downtown to admire the blooms that surround the city. Twenty campsites<\/strong> can be found in and around Haarlem<\/em>. A wide variety of proposals among which we recommend the\n Roompot Bloemendaal aan Zee<\/em>\n<\/strong>, located along the North Sea<\/strong> beach, ideal for a comfortable and pleasant vacation. Also beautiful is the\n Camping De Duindoorn<\/em>\n<\/strong>, while for a stay with animals, \n EuroParcs Spaarnwoude<\/em>\n<\/strong> awaits you with your four-legged friend. If you are traveling with the family, Camping Bloemendaal<\/strong> is the perfect cozy solution.<\/p>\n

Leiden<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Leiden<\/strong>, or Leiden<\/em>, is located in southern Holland, 36 km northeast of Amsterdam. It is one of the most picturesque cities in the Netherlands, with a beautiful center crisscrossed by numerous canals where typical brick houses are reflected. Not to be missed, especially in spring, the\n Hortus botanicus<\/em>\n<\/strong>, the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands, dating back to 1590. A veritable treasure trove of biodiversity located within the historic headquarters of the \n Leiden Universiteit, <\/em>\n<\/strong>in Rapenburg<\/em>. The first tulips in Europe were grown here, and today they thrive in all colors, but the “national” flower is not the only one that cloaks this earthly paradise: here you can immerse yourself in Southeast Asian habitats among tropical orchids and carnivorous plants, relax in the Japanese garden, and stroll through greenery shaded by monumental trees. The Winter Garden is also worth a visit. <\/strong>with its collection of cycads and carnivorous plants, and the large ornate orangery built in 1744. <\/p>\n\n

The surroundings of Leiden<\/em> are equally enchanting, famous for expanses of tulips headed by beautiful windmills, but also for naturalistic areas bordering the \n Noordzee<\/em>\n<\/strong> where you can breathe in the crisp breeze of the North Sea. In Leiden <\/em>and surrounding area you will find 30 camping<\/strong> facilities, among which we highlight the excellent services of the \n Camping Koningshof<\/em>\n<\/strong>, as well as those of the glamping \n Strandcamping Zuidduinen<\/em>\n<\/strong>. If you wish to get a tan, stay at the \n Maaldrift Campground, <\/em>\n<\/strong>directly on the beach. The \n Natuurkampeerterrein Duinrell <\/em>\n<\/strong>on the other hand, is a good option if you are traveling with family with young children, while for those traveling with animals, pin the \n Camping Stochemhoeve – Vekabo<\/em>\n<\/strong>. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a more rustic and minimalist solution, pitch your tent on a pitch at the \n Camping Boerderij Rustdam<\/em>\n<\/strong> to have a beautiful experience surrounded by nature. <\/p>\n
