The officers placed a large camping area in Palinuro, in the municipality of Centola, under preventive seizure. The campground covered approximately 8,000 square meters along a stretch of coastline of exceptional environmental value.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seals were placed following investigations that had already led to an initial shutdown in July. Over the summer, law enforcement officials had identified eight mobile homes being installed without authorization. This action sends a strong message against illegal camping in protected areas.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lack of Permits and Environmental Risks<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technical inspections conducted in collaboration with municipal offices revealed very serious administrative irregularities. The tourist complex was found to be completely lacking the necessary urban planning and landscape permits. It also lacked the essential authorizations for the disposal of liquid waste and sewage sludge.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proximity to the shoreline increased the risk of degradation to the marine and coastal ecosystem. Combating illegal camping means protecting the environment from unregulated real estate speculation. The lack of facilities that comply with regulations, in fact, puts public health and local biodiversity at risk.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Impact on the Outdoor Tourism Sector<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The existence of unlicensed facilities causes serious reputational damage to the entire outdoor tourism sector. The vast majority of operators comply fully with the law and invest resources in sustainability. Unlicensed facilities also create unfair competition for honest business owners in the area.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outdoor tourism must be based on transparency, compliance with the rules, and the preservation of the landscape.
