European Camping Group has become Europe’s largest outdoor accommodation provider

European Camping Group [ECG] tour operator specializing in the mobile home holiday market, has completed the €1 billion acquisition of the Vacanceselect Group. The deal has enabled ECG to triple its campsite portfolio, now comprising 500 sites located across France, Spain, Italy, Croatia and the Netherlands, making it the largest provider of outdoor accommodation in Europe.

The operation was supposed to see the light of day last July, but was completed after seven months. On 14 February, the Competition and Market Authority gave its approval for the closing of the acquisition. The agreement will allow the French group to aim for a turnover of 700 million euros in 2023.

ECG President Alain Calmé highlighted several positive perspectives.

“By complementing Vacanceselect I am delighted that European Camping Group is now the leading supplier of outdoor accommodation across Europe. By bringing together talented professionals and enthusiasts of both activities we will be able to ensure that our extensive range of parks and accommodation continue to enchant , entertain and delight, families across Europe. This operation will allow us to share best practices to increase the quality, accessibility and sustainability of our offer”.

This is the comment of the managing director Daren Marsh: “The agreement will offer Eurocamp customers a truly unrivaled choice of holiday parks in the most popular travel locations in Europe. We look forward to introducing this new portfolio of holiday parks to our guests over the coming months.”

ECG’s brand portfolio now includes Eurocamp, Camping Vision, Homair, Roan, Canvas Holidays [UK] and Vacanceselect, while its own campsite portfolio has been expanded to 100 high-end parks with Tohapi joining its brand existing Marvilla Parks.

To grow further, European Camping Group will focus on maintaining a good working environment. “The environment is the lever whose values are increasingly sought after by the younger generations – explained the president Alain Calmé – we are working to make this happen. We will make it effective. It is a growth factor and a point of reference for our outdoor hotel sector” .
