2023 probable record year for Cavallino-Treporti

The 2023 tourist season marked another incredible success for Cavallino-Treporti, the first open air district in Europe. Long phases of sold out in accommodation facilities during the high season months have confirmed the popularity of this tourist destination, not only among Italian visitors but also among foreign ones. With the arrival of mid-October and the closure of most campsites and tourist villages, the time has come to take a provisional assessment of an exceptional season.

Francesco Berton, the president of Assocamping, the association representing twenty-nine campsites and tourist villages in the area, declared: “It was an absolutely successful season in terms of attendance, confirmed by the numbers. Our sector is highly appreciated and we have confirmed the exceptional results of 2022, the year of the absolute record for Cavallino-Treporti with almost 7 million attendances. The first indications even seem to suggest an increase of a few hundred thousand more attendances this year.”

Mayor Roberta Nesto added her enthusiasm towards the positive trend and underlined the importance of data analysis to better manage tourist flows. You explained that they are collaborating with the University of Venice and an important telephone operator to analyze the movements of people in the area, especially commuters. This analysis will help manage flows more efficiently and limit access in some particularly sensitive areas of the locality.

Technology is increasingly becoming part of territorial analysis strategies to further improve the position of Cavallino-Treporti as a tourist destination of excellence at a national and European level. This data will also be useful to support the important topic of the proposed law on Marine Communities.

Meanwhile, the promotion of the location has not stood still. Paolo Bertolini, president of the Cavallino-Treporti Tourist Park Consortium, announced that they are working on new advertising approaches, including a revamped website that integrates augmented reality. This will allow users to virtually immerse themselves in the Cavallino-Treporti area from anywhere in the world. Bertolini also highlighted that the area’s tourism model is a great attraction for young people, offering holidays in freedom and in contact with nature.

Contact with nature is a clear strength of this tourist destination, with a particular emphasis on environmental sustainability. Accommodation facilities are committed to respecting the environment, and this is confirmed by certifications such as the GSTC for sustainable campsites. These certifications aim to reduce environmental impact, enhance local culture and bring social and economic benefits to the community. Furthermore, the facilities are adopting sustainable practices such as recycling swimming pool water and using electric means of mobility.

With a constantly growing annual investment of 25,000,000 euros, the Cavallino-Treporti district demonstrates its ability to adapt to the evolving challenges of the tourism sector. The combination of natural beauty, environmental sustainability and technological innovation makes this destination a model for outdoor tourism in Europe, and continues to attract visitors from all over the world.
