The editorial staff of Mondo Camping is pleased to give its readers a virtual welcome to the 44th edition of the European Exhibition of Outdoor Tourism & Accommodation (SETT) in Montpellier. The last few days have been dedicated to the official opening of the fair, which is hosting Europe’s leading open-air professionals. The Parc des Expositions welcomed some 750 exhibitors from different market segments, including accommodation, camping, equipment, HoReCa services, swimming pools, green spaces, games and leisure activities.
Awarded the Sett d’Or
One of the highlights of the opening day was the presentation of the Sett d’Or Trophies for Innovation on 7 November. The Sett d’Or awards recognise companies that have particularly distinguished themselves for the uniqueness and innovation of their products or services in the field of outdoor hospitality. This year 46 companies participated in the competition. Award categories include infrastructure, equipment, leisure, applications and software, all of which are key areas to focus on in order to remain competitive in the industry. Here are the winners of the Sett d’Or Innovation Trophies at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier.
- Aquaeco (Envirotrole). A new system of units for treating grey water from showers, which is then used to flush the toilet. An important initiative for water saving and efficiency in campsites and outdoor facilities.
- R-Cup’O (Ozoneo). An environmentally friendly solution for recovering water from mobile home showers to feed the toilets. This technology promises to significantly reduce environmental impact.
- Climatiseur Inverter (FOC Mobile Clim). A hybrid solar and electric air conditioner that offers an environmentally friendly solution for cooling in outdoor facilities while reducing energy costs.
- Aquapool (Aquatech Innovation). A solution for the recovery and direct treatment of water from the rinsing and washing of swimming pool filters. This new system promises to improve the efficiency of pool services and water resource management.
- TruDetx Bed Bug Rapid Test (DKM Experts). A revolutionary device capable of detecting bed bug infestations. The product is of importance in ensuring a clean and safe environment for visitors to outdoor facilities.
SETT in Montpellier receives the LEAD label for its commitment to sustainability
In the 2023 edition, Salon SETT opened its doors to an important innovation. The organisers announced that they would be awarded the LEAD label for their commitment to environmental sustainability. In 2021, SEPT initiated actions to support the environment and social responsibility, which two years later were recognised with the awarding of the LEAD bronze medal by Green Événements and SGS. SEPT initiated policies to promote employment, reaching 10% of staff from disadvantaged groups, one of the measures required by the label. It also chose eco-sustainability by responding to six mandatory measures, including eco-sustainable event design, turning waste into resources and reducing its carbon footprint. Attention to inclusion was another focus that led to the medal, with dedicated services for people with disabilities and the inclusion of Braille menus in the fair’s restaurants. In addition, an awareness campaign was conducted to reduce the environmental impact of transport for visitors and exhibitors. SEPT also distinguished itself for promoting gender equality and the valorisation of food leftovers, with the elimination of food waste and the transformation of food waste into compost.
