The year 2024 opened with quite a boom in requests from tourists traveling en plein air. Therefore, it is already time to take a look at the new trends in the world of outdoor vacations, so as not to be caught unprepared.

Also in this 2024, for the seventh consecutive year, the CampingVillage.Marketing staff of TITANKA! Spa, conducted its annual survey to better understand the desires of tourists who prefer to sleep under the stars, how they plan their vacation, and how their research and travel habits change. Between January and February, more than a thousand responses were collected, and the results, compared with data from past years, give us an interesting look at the promotion and sale of Camping Villages.

Advance Reservations: Winning Strategy

One of the most noticeable trends is the increase in bookings made well in advance. In the first month of 2024 alone, requests nearly tripled from the previous year, suggesting that tourists are increasingly anticipating their vacation planning. Therefore, being ready to accommodate their requests earlier than usual is certainly a winning move.

Respondents tell us that the key to getting the best deals is to book early. Therefore, special offers such as “Book First” offers are certainly an effective strategy for attracting customers. However, it is important to quota proposals, establish clear and transparent rules on cancellation and deposit to ensure efficient and beneficial management of reservations.

Use Tourists’ Flexibility on Dates of Stay to Your Advantage

Not all tourists are tied to traditional summer vacations. A significant number of people are also willing to consider different travel periods, such as spring, based on the best deals and conditions. This gives Camping Village managers a unique opportunity to attract customers during less crowded periods.

The preference for the high season in fact (July and August), in 2024 is declining:

  • 2024: 59,7%
  • 2023: 64,8%
  • 2022: 70,2%

Italy remains top, but interest in Abroad grows

Despite a 5.2 percent increase in preferences for foreign destinations, Italy still remains the favorite destination for most tourists.

It is noteworthy that Italy also maintains its stable position due to the fact that many tourists plan to take more than one vacation in 2024. In fact, from cross-analysis of responses we know that 55.12 percent of respondents in the survey will indulge in more than one trip in 2024.

Variations in Preferred Destinations.

Although the sea remains the most popular choice, the mountains saw a significant increase of +6.6 percent in interest over previous years. At the same time, destinations such as villages, lakes and art cities are gaining ground.
