The Region of Liguria unlocks an additional 3.7 million to fund all hiring bonus applications for the Tourism Jobs Pact 2024. This is the measure under the “Tourism Jobs Pact” that Liguria has been signing for seven years to encourage employment in tourism businesses, including open-air facilities.
The region had already allocated 5 million for 2024, but given the high number of applications, additional funds were released, reaching the total allocation at 8.7 million.
The bonuses, ranging from a minimum of 2,500 to a maximum of 8,000 euros per company, are intended for contracts with a duration of no less than eight months, with the sole exception of bathing establishments for which an incentive is provided even for contracts for seven months (due to the peculiarities of a sector that depends not only on the weather but also on autonomous decisions of the local reference authorities).
As stated by Regional Councillor for Tourism Luca Lombardi:“Already in June, on the fifth day of the opening of the counter procedure, the applications received had generated significant overbooking that made it necessary to arrange for the closure of the counter itself, which demonstrates that after seven years the Pact is increasingly successful: it is a real and practical tool that encourages seasonal adjustment, allowing the conclusion of employment contracts beyond the usual summer season.”
Labor Councilor Simona Ferro adds, “Once again, Region Liguria keeps its promises and meets all the demands, despite the very high demand received. The Tourism Jobs Pact works, companies in the sector ask us for hiring bonuses, and we want to guarantee them over time. Tourism and employment represent a very important combination in Italy and in Liguria, on which it is necessary to invest at the institutional level. We have done so and will continue to do so “.
The seventh edition of the “Tourism Jobs Pact” was signed at the end of 2023 between the Liguria Region and the regional, confederal, sectoral and employers’ organizations (Cgil, Filcams Cgil, Cisl, Fisascat Cisl, Uil, Uiltucs, Confindustria, Confcommercio, Confesercenti, Confartigianato) for the implementation of interventions to support businesses in the sector for 2024.
New features of this year’s edition included raising the employment bonuses provided for the conclusion of permanent contracts from the previous 6,000 to 8,000 euros; increasing the bonuses for fixed-term contracts by 500 euros compared to the previous year, thus reaching 3.500 euros for 8-month contracts (2,500 for contracts of bathing establishments); and the creation of a real-time monitoring system of the progress of the intervention, which provided for the automatic sending by the application system of information about the quantity and type of contracts incentivized.
