FAITA FederCamping Tuscany: open-air tourism exceeds 10 million presences

The invitation to discover Tuscany is always irresistible, and the proposal to stay in the open air, in close connection with nature and the territory, taking advantage of excellent services and increasingly innovative and sustainable facilities, attracts more and more tourists from all over Europe.

Last year, Tuscany’s open-air sector recorded excellent results that consolidate the sector and make the forecast for this season encouraging, it was stated this morning by Claudio Galassi, president FAITA Tuscany, Enrico Paoli, director FAITA Tuscany, Leonardo Marras, councillor for Economy and Tourism of the Region of Tuscany, and Alessandro Tortelli, director of the Center for Tourism Studies in Florence.

We report the data stated by the Association and published in Camping Management, a portal of FAITA Federcamping:

  • Total arrivals: 1.684 million tourists chose Tuscany open air (+0.9% compared to 2024);
  • Total presences: the 10 million mark was broken down, standing at 10.108 million overnight stays (+0.7 percent);
  • Average stay: the figure stabilizes at 6 nights, confirming the “settled” and deep relaxation nature typical of this vacation.

In first place for attendance, Germany holds the lead with 39.6 percent of foreign attendance, followed by the Netherlands with 22.1 percent.

FAITA Federcamping Toscana also stated the following numbers, which are essential to paint a complete picture: in 2025, the supply has 236 active facilities, divided into 212 campsites and 24 tourist villages, for an impressive accommodation capacity of more than 184 thousand beds.

One fact emerges strongly: although the sector numerically accounts for only 1.3 percent of regional accommodations, its carrying capacity is decisive, providing 31.5 percent of Tuscany’s total beds.

Compared to 2024, the offer continued its expansion with the addition of about 660 new beds (+0.4 percent), demonstrating a constant dynamism in investment. “Thus, 2025 saw a significant increase for Tuscany’s open-air tourism. This also allows one to think of a rosy outlook for the 2026 season that indicates an estimated growth of between +1.4 percent and +1.8 percent.
