The meeting was organized by FAITA Federcamping Calabria and Federalberghi Calabria last Monday, April 28, at the T Hotel in Lamezia Terme. It was an important meeting in order to analyze the new regulatory text, as the law in question still presents several question marks for entrepreneurs in the sector and is still little known by municipal administrations.
Leading the proceedings were Marco Sperapani, Director General of FAITA Federcamping, and Jole Le Pera, a member of the working group for the drafting of the law, who explained the highlights of Regional Law 14/2025 on the regulation of open-air tourist accommodation complexes, along with some local entrepreneurs.
In the discussion, Director Sperapani paused to illustrate and explain the individual articles that make up the regional law through the clarity of some practical examples, which were very helpful in outlining how to fulfill the new regulatory steps.
The director said, “The approval of a new regional law for the sector, which replaces a regulatory system now bearing the weight of some 38 years, will enable businesses to adapt to the quality standards demanded by national and international markets, bringing important added value to the entire regional tourist accommodation industry.”
The effort to understand the text does not stop there, and as stated by attorney Le Pera, “We will propose a shared communication to municipalities that will allow them to be promptly updated on the new law so they can provide entrepreneurs with the right assistance.”
Monday’s meeting was an opportunity for analysis but also for discussion among operators, trade associations and institutions involved in an increasingly tourism-driven region betting on open air.
In the early afternoon, the Elective Assembly of Federalberghi saw the reappointment of President Fabrizio D’Agostino for the next 5 years, together with the Regional Board of Directors. This was followed by the conference “Modern Hospitality and Open Air Tourism in an Extraordinary Calabria” with the involvement of political institutions with the participation of Regional Councilor and first signer of the regional law on ‘Open Air, the Honorable Antonello Talerico and Regional Councillor for Tourism Giovanni Calabrese.
