Christmas markets: Sappada and Lignano Sabbiadoro

For this reason, not everyone imagines that during the Christmas period the town comes alive with all the fervor that distinguishes it in the summer, and organizes numerous events, markets and the famous sand crib , which this year reaches its 21st edition.

It is an enchanting sand sculpture located at thebeach office number 6, Lungomare Trieste. Now become a must of the Christmas period in Lignano, it is organized by theAssociation Dome Aghi Savalon d’Ar, in cooperation with the municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro and local associations. The peculiarity of this extraordinary sculpture enhances the treasure of Lignano, the precious golden sand, masterfully compacted with the only use of water, without the help of adhesives. Also not to be missed is the beautiful markets the “Christmas Taste Village,” set up between St. John Bosco Park and Tolmezzo Street from Dec. 7 until Jan. 6, 2025. A handful of beautiful wooden cottages will host creations of local handicrafts, gastronomic products, floral and nursery ideas and numerous stands where you can taste local delicacies.

For families with children, inside St. John Bosco Park sprouts Santa Clauss Village, where they can find Santa Claus himself waiting for their little letter, and the ice skating rink in Fountain Square, open for young and old alike. You will find that the winter sea has never been so much fun.
