Italy is an irresistible lure, especially during the warm season, and outdoor vacations are very popular from the North to the South of the country: history, culture but also stays in nature, accomplice to the great variety of places and beautiful landscapes. Also attracting is the spread of quality accommodation facilities throughout the country.
Easter is coming and the data from Pitchup.com, the leading platform for booking open-air stays, speak for themselves: according to the latest statistics, Italian camping facilities are growing by +96 percent compared to the same period in 2025.
A really important result for the sector, which confirms our country among the most popular destinations in Europe. What emerges from the analysis is that bookings made in Italy are higher than the global average, in reference to the other destinations offered by the platform, which stands at +35%.
An all-Italian Easter then, chosen mainly by foreign tourists: about 80 percent of bookings are made by international tourists . In first place is Germany, followed by the United Kingdom and Switzerland, while domestic tourism accounts for the remaining 20 percent.
The Pitchup.com analysis also captures other significant data such as the timing of reservations, made on average about two months in advance. These are predominantly short but well-planned stays, with overnight stays of three to four nights on average.
In terms of the type of tourists, most are couples, followed by families with children. Pet-friendly stays are on the rise, with about one in ten bookings including pets. Demand for RV and motorhome pitches is also on the rise, testifying to an open-air itinerant tourism capable of enhancing multiple territories, a journey that sweeps through Italian beauty.
