FAITA Lazio: development and innovation for regional open air tourism

The conference organized by FAITA Lazio was held last April 16, at the Roma Capitol Camping Village. It was an important appointment to outline the state of the art of regional outdoor tourism, but also to take stock of the current situation, focusing on urgent issues such as regulatory simplifications, and to think about the future of the sector through new ideas and system strategies.

The open-air world in Lazio is a growing reality but still strongly linked to summer tourism. The goal is to expand the seasonal proposal by trying to enhance the lesser-known territories as well: much of the demand is focused on Rome and its surroundings, but there are countless provincial destinations, small villages and the beauty of the region to be discovered, potentially very attractive to intrigue travelers and develop the sector.

Therefore, an evolution of the open air proposal is being sought, increasingly understood as a hospitality model that combines nature, sports, services, territory and experiences, thus expanding the offer of slow and immersive tourism, as also confirmed by FAITA Lazio President Ubaldo Fusco. Added to this evolution is a propensity for solutions capable of raising accommodation standards and expanding the competitive capacity of facilities, as well as aiming for a necessary simplification of the regulatory framework. This last and very important aspect was carefully highlighted by FAITA General Manager Marco Sperapani at the meeting.

Other critical issues that the industry is going through, such as energy costs and resource optimization, were also addressed during the conference, and the importance of staff training, sustainability and inclusiveness, paradigm shifts that are necessary for a conscious and competitive evolution of the industry, were also highlighted.

Prominent among the innovative elements that emerged was the “Lazio Open Air” project, presented as an integrated and scalable network model designed to enhance the industry at the regional level through shared governance, innovation, continuing education, ESG, common visual identity and coordinated promotion tools-a concrete strategy that can elevate Lazio’s open air tourism.
