When we talk about “light leisure houses,” we mean chalets e bungalows with square footage of less than 35 m². These are the most popular open-air accommodation solutions for tourists to spend a vacation in close contact with nature but at the same time with all the comforts and the right intimacy.
“Light leisure houses,” are in high demand in France, and it is precisely to protect this production sector that five major manufacturers of “Habitations Légères de Loisirs” on the national market have decided to take action and form their own union: Hékipia, Samibois, Chalets Fabre, Casarbor and OBM Construction (Eskuria) have created the Syndicat professionnel des fabricants d’HLLL (SFHLL).
The union elected Olivier Bossanne of Hekipia as president, Sébastien Renaud of Chalet Fabre as vice president, and François Tessier of Samibois as treasurer.
The newly elected president of the SFHLL, Olivier Bossanne, comments, “The creation of this union is an important step forward, and we have collective battles to pursue to ensure that our profession is heard. We have common interests to defend, as we saw with the RE2020 file for affordable housing under 35 m², which I defended all the way to the State Council and which we won. We will now be able to address the HLL quotas, which are unfavorable for us, even though our products are perfectly suited to the expectations of our clients and the challenges of the industry.”
The union’s goals
Despite having just been created, the Association already has three specific goals. First, to inform professionals, public authorities, and the media about the specific features and advantages of low-cost housing as rental accommodations in campgrounds and PRLs.
Second, to represent HLL producers in dealings with public authorities and all other relevant bodies in France and Europe, to defend the interests of the profession.
And finally, to be the recognized interlocutor with public authorities on all matters related to low-cost housing, in areas affecting campgrounds and beyond.
These are just the first challenges of an association that deserves to be recognized and protected to the fullest extent possible.
