The Lake Hydro Glamping Boutique is the ideal destination for families, sportsmen and culture lovers, awarded by Leading Camping, ADAC PinCamp and ANWB.
A place to be for tourists who want to spend an immersive vacation, in close contact with nature and the territory but without giving up all the comforts, just a few steps from the border with Trentino, nestled between green mountains and crystal clear waters.
Next July 31, 2025, Lake Hydro Glamping Boutique celebrates its 5-year anniversary. An anniversary that marks the success of an open-air destination of excellence, immersed in nature and far from the emblazoned destinations of overtourism. The definition “boutique” is perfect to describe the 90 exclusive solutions – including pitches and accommodations with direct access to the lake – available to guests. Since its opening in 2021, it has more than doubled the number of guests from Holland, Germany and Italy in just five years.
Loek van de Loo, Founder of Holidays with a Heart, said, “When we bet on Idro, many people asked us ‘why not still continue the expansion on Garda?’ But that is precisely our strength: to offer something different, intimate, sincere. Today we celebrate five years of excitement, of sunsets on the lake, of children running free among the trees. This is not just a resort: it is a community growing with us.”
The facility is chosen as both a summer and winter destination: in fact, it was the first destination to inaugurate the Winter Glamping formula. The comfort of the accommodations, the open-air wellness area with sauna, jacuzzi and hot tub, the dining and entertainment areas, in fact, are also ideal for a deseasonalized stay for the Christmas vacations and until after New Year’s Eve, with atmospheric arrangements, activities and initiatives such as the traditional Christmas Market inside the safari tents.
Receiving accolades from leading international industry institutions in just a few years, the boutique resort is now among the most highly regarded in European outdoor tourism: it has the title of Leading Camping in 2024 as well; ADAC PinCamp awarded the title of Best Young Talent 2024 to Leonardo van de Loo, a young developer of the project, for the first time in its history. Finally, it won Best Outstanding Accommodation Abroad 2023 for one of its housing solutions.
Perfect for families thanks to its gathered size and safe spaces, it continues to develop edutainment for the youngest guests: new for 2025 is the creation of an off-road course – adjacent to the facility – dedicated to electric mini land rovers available to all young guests. The resort is also a sportsman’s paradise, with opportunities for SUP, kayaking, swimming, as well as hiking and mountain biking along trails that wind between the lake and the mountains.
There is no shortage of a strong cultural component among the experiences this destination offers: just a few minutes’ walk away is the Rocca d’Anfo, Italy’s largest Napoleonic fortress, which offers immersive guided tours among tunnels, casemates and breathtaking views; less than an hour away, heading up to the plateau, you will discover the Cima Rest Astronomical Observatory, a magical place where the sky is still dark and where you can participate in stargazing evenings and astronomical workshops for children and adults.
The link with the area is further reaffirmed in the food and wine offerings: with the Bistrot del Lago, a culinary address also open to local guests, it offers the revamped menu-common to the Group’s other nine destinations, supplemented with a capsule of “real km” offerings-that is, raw materials from the area, among which are dishes based on the typical local cheese, Bagoss, the unmistakable yellow-paste product that is the protagonist of a true classic: casoncelli.
It cannot miss – since it is open-air tourism – the sustainability component, which at Lago Idro Glamping Boutique is an important element: starting with the accommodations, mobile homes and safari tents, do not require excavation or concrete for their positioning; electricity is guaranteed by a photovoltaic system that overhangs the roof of the catering, market and entertainment services area; and a solar thermal system guarantees hot water in the service area, showers and laundry. In addition, a well ensures the recovery of graywater to irrigate the greenery and feed the toilet flush boxes.
