According to thePiNCAMP Price Analysis, in 2025 the prices of campsites with three or more stars, according to the ADAC classification, will increase by an average of 6 percent across Europe during the high season. A family of three campers will pay an average of 52 euros (up from 50 euros the previous year) for one night’s camping during the summer peak season-including a pitch for a camper or caravan with a towing vehicle.
In the European comparison of major vacation countries*, Germany, at 40 euros per night, is the cheapest camping country. Sweden ranks second with a price of 43 euros per night. It is followed by France (50 euros), Denmark (51 euros), Austria (53 euros), the United Kingdom (54 euros), the Netherlands (55 euros) and Spain (60 euros). Spain with sharp price increases; minimal increases for Sweden and the United Kingdom
The most expensive camping countries-Croatia, Italy and Switzerland-remain within the European average, with price increases ranging from 4 percent to 6 percent. Spain leads the price increase with an increase of 5 euros per night, representing a 9 percent year-on-year increase. Prices at campgrounds in the United Kingdom (0 percent) and Sweden (1 percent) remain virtually unchanged. In Germany, a family with a ten-year-old child had to pay about 38 euros for a night’s camping in 2024; in 2025 it is 40 euros, a 5 percent increase.
Camping prices accepted; length of stay decreases slightly
Camping has become an established form of vacation. In Germany alone, nearly 43 million overnight stays at campsites were recorded in 2024-a new record. Overnight prices are rising slightly. “Moderate price adjustments are understandable after the turbulent developments of recent years and are accepted by campers. In terms of travel time alone, as our booking data show, German campers are saving one or two days of camping,” says Uwe Frers, camping expert and CEO of PiNCAMP.
Campground prices continue to fluctuate: great deals in low season
The camping industry responds to seasonal demand with flexible pricing. Camping prices are no longer valid for an entire season, but are increasingly adjusted daily according to occupancy and demand-as is already the case in other sectors of tourism. In particular, campsites in prime locations, such as the North and Baltic Seas, Lake Garda, or the Croatian Adriatic coast, adjust prices upward in case of high demand.
Uwe Frers, CEO and camping expert PiNCAMP, says, “I therefore recommend that all campers book their summer vacations as early as possible to guarantee favorable prices in time,” and adds, “With the availability search on pincamp.co.uk you can quickly find campsites with vacancies, compare conditions and book directly online.” Those who can travel in the low season, according to Frers, have a good chance of finding bargains: “Prices in the low season are about a third lower than in the summer high season. Those who also use the ADAC Campcard can get up to 50 percent off the price of an overnight stay.”
The ADAC Campcard is available free of charge with the ADAC Camping and Stellplatz guides, as well as with the ADAC Camping and Stellplatz app, and cannot be purchased separately.
