Salon SETT: strategic partnership between Sandaya and Osmozis to reduce water and electricity consumption

This was discussed today at the last day of Salon SETT in Montpellier. The group Sandaya, a European leader in the open-air sector, is taking another step forward in its CSR policy, which is aimed at adopting corporate behavior capable of positively affecting the environment.

With this goal, he joined forces with Osmozis, a specialist in the digital transformation of campsites and vacation rentals in Europe with sustainable solutions.

Beginning in 2025, Sandaya will equip most of its campsites with the OsmoPower-Water solution , the technology that enables remote, real-time monitoring of water and electricity consumption, facilitating rapid intervention in case of leaks or breakdowns.

The innovative proposal has been successfully tested in 4 pilot facilities: Le Ranolien (22), Séquoia Parc (17), Soulac Plage (33) and Plein Air des Chênes (34).

The analysis

Meter installations at the 4 facilities, connected in April 2024, confirmed Osmozis ‘ engineering studies by identifying key consumption points.

After three months of testing, the results were conclusive, as outlined by Manuel Trarieux, Sandaya’s director of sustainability: “Thanks to the initial anomalies detected by the Osmozis solutions, we were able to carry out a series of small corrective actions on the washing systems or directly on the pools during the season.”

The effectiveness of Osmozis solutions was particularly relevant at Le Ranolien campsite, where a residual leak was eliminated in less than a week thanks to OsmoWater ‘s leak detection algorithms and automatic SMS alert sent to the site’s technical manager. Without the Osmozis solution, the leak would likely have lasted longer, consuming about 10 m3 per day.

In Soulac Plage, on the other hand, several residual leaks were detected, particularly in the toilets, with excessive consumption of more than 600 liters per day per flush.

Based on these promising initial results, Sandaya plans to equip some 15 new sites with the solution OsmoPower-Water in 2025, with the goal of extending it to all its sites within the next 2 years: ” We need to quickly extend this system to our entire portfolio to standardize our practices in terms of measuring and managing fluid consumption. This will help us achieve our annual reduction target of -5% per night “, explains Manuel Trarieux.

For Pierre-Benoit Labbé, managing director of Osmozis, “This partnership with an outdoor hotel chain like Sandaya is an important step forward in the large-scale deployment of OsmoPower Water for all campsites .”

The features of OsmoPower-Water

OsmoPower-Water is the solution for remote monitoring of water and electricity consumption, connected in real time. The framework consists of a“LoRaWan” box that constantly monitors power networks.

Easy to install, safe and reliable, the system allows all facilities to be remotely managed and electricity and water supplies to lodgings to be intervened from a dedicated online space, the ideal solution that enables open-air hospitality professionals to achieve significant water and energy savings by anticipating costs.

OsmoPower-Water, the solution in line with the spirit of Sandaya’s “Way of Life” program

Launched in 2020, Sandaya ‘s Way of Life program is based on optimizing resource management (water, energy and waste) in all its facilities.

The group has already launched a number of initiatives at its sites to combat waste and reduce liquid consumption, including installing water meters and flow reducers in communal toilets and housing, purchasing water tanks for irrigation, installing drip irrigation, covering aquatic pools, renovating networks and indoor sewage systems, and renovating swimming pools.

Customer awareness campaigns complement this eco-responsible approach.
