Sandaya in partnership with Primagaz to aim for decarbonization of the open air world

The Sandaya Group and Primagaz, a French gas and biogas supplier, announce their partnership with a commitment to supply 50 percent biopropane to some 15 Sandaya campsites in France.

But what are we talking about when we talk about biopropane?

Biopropane is a renewable and sustainable gas, chemically identical to traditional propane but produced from biological sources, obtained by fermenting organic matter or recovering waste, in the case of Primagaz, produced at a biorefinery in southern France. A green alternative that achieves an 84 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to standard fossil-derived propane.

Sandaya’s CSR commitments to sustainable tourism

The agreement between Sandaya Primagaz is part of the group’s CSR commitments to sustainable tourism and long-term goal of achieving total decarbonization and 100 percent biopropane sourcing of its facilities.

Optimizing natural resource management is one of Sandaya’s 4 major CSR commitments. Since the creation of the Way of Life program, Sandaya has implemented numerous actions to reduce water and energy consumption (one of the goals is a 5% decrease in fluid consumption and greenhouse gas emissions per overnight stay and per year).

Manuel Trarieux, director of sustainability for the Sandaya Group, said, “The transition to biopropane at our sites marks a new step forward in our decarbonization policy, with the use of renewable, bio-based energy that will help reduce the environmental footprint of our operations, complementing a whole series of other very concrete actions.”

Vincent Chabrolle, Commercial Director of Primagaz, adds, “We at Primagaz are proud to join Sandaya in this new phase of its decarbonization strategy. Primagaz’s integration of biopropane into the energy supply of its campsites concretely illustrates the role that renewable gases can play in the energy transition of businesses. By proposing a solution that enables significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, we are helping to accompany our customers toward more sustainable business models.” .
