Temperatures rise and bookings increase at open-air facilities

A hot summer, and we’re just getting started. One solution to escape the city’s mugginess is to immerse oneself in nature, and camping and glaming facilities, seem to be increasingly in demand. The possibility of an immersive stay and the many outdoor activities are motivating more and more travelers to choose the open air, to confirm this Pitchup.com, the leading platform for booking outdoor stays in Europe.

According to data collected, June 15 was a record day with the highest booking value of the year for Italy. In fact, +66% was recorded compared to the same date in 2024. Through the Pitchup.com platform, nearly 100,000 nights have already been booked in Italy since January, a 10 percent increase in the total value of bookings compared to 2024.

Dan Yates, Managing Director of Pitchup.com comments, “Favorable weather conditions, combined with the desire to unplug quickly and flexibly, are driving a new wave of outdoor tourism in Italy and throughout Europe.” He adds, “Camping proves to be an increasingly in vogue, affordable and sustainable experience, perfect even for last-minute trips.”

Another trend also emerges in the platform’s analysis: increasing last-minute departures. The average time between booking and arrival at the facility has decreased by 21 percent to just 20 days. In contrast, the average length of stay remains unchanged at 3 days.

Another interesting trend is related to glamping solutions, which are increasingly demanded by Italian users: the desire to spend a stay in nature without precluding comfort, sophisticated design, exciting and exclusive experiences are the trend of the moment.
