There are numerous sea, mountain and lake resorts that make it a popular destination for Italian and foreign tourists. In high demand are the camping facilities, which can participate in the second edition of the “Smart Tourism Destination“, a strategic initiative aimed at promoting digitalization and innovation in the tourism sector.
Federico Caner, tourism councillor of the Veneto Region says: “With this call, the Veneto Region confirms its commitment to the digital transformation of tourism, encouraging the creation of more innovative and welcoming destinations for visitors and citizens. We want Veneto to be at the forefront of the European tourism scene, with destinations that know how to leverage digital to offer unique, high-quality experiences. The goal is to create innovative digital ecosystems capable of improving the visitor experience andmanagement efficiency of accommodation facilities.
The councillor adds, “Tourism represents a backbone of the Veneto economy, and thanks to this line of funding we want to offer new opportunities to destinations so that they can evolve into Smart Tourism Destination (STD), a model in which digital becomes an ally to make the tourism offer even more efficient and engaging,” Caner continued. The success of the first edition of the call for proposals, which saw the participation of 12 destinations in the region, with all 10 projects presented already funded to the tune of more than 3.5 million euros, has convinced us to invest further resources by raising to 5 million the total amount committed by the region to Smart Tourism Destination “.
