A record-breaking 2024. The tourism sector in the Veneto region confirms further growth after the excellent results achieved in previous years. The outdoor tourism sector is also confirmed to be among the best in Italy, accomplices being destinations such as Cavallino-Treporti, recently awarded as Italy’s first seaside destination, the European home of outdoor tourism. But there are so many resorts that offer a very high standard of outdoor services with excellent synergy with the territories.
According to a press release issued by the Veneto region, the Veneto Region’s tourism councillor Federico Caner, announces the regional statistics numbers for 2024 (provisional until official publication by Istat), which certify full recovery and overcoming pre-pandemic attractiveness, with numbers higher than in 2019 in all major destination types.
Caner states, “The overall figures for 2024 certify the excellence of our tourism offer and Veneto’s ability to attract visitors from all over the world. The year 2024 marks another year of growth, consolidating our region’s leadership in the Italian tourism scene with a 3.3 percent increase in arrivals and a 2.2 percent increase in presences, which exceed 73 million. In fact, we are the top destination for international travelers, with a significant increase in the foreign share. But we are also a region that grows and innovates to offer an experience capable of satisfying both the established market and the demand of travelers more sensitive to the world related to sustainability “.
The various tourist areas in the Veneto region are reporting an increase in arrivals, with numbers up for the sea, art cities, lake and mountains. International interest continues to expand, with a 5.9 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals and a 4 percent increase in their stays. In contrast, Italian tourism shows a slight decline (-1.5 percent in arrivals, -1.8 percent in presences).
Among foreign markets, Germany confirmed itself as the main tourist destination for the Veneto region, with a 2.3 percent increase in arrivals and a 2 percent increase in presences, reaching numbers that have never been so high. Also on the upswing is Chinese tourism, which although still below pre-pandemic levels, continues to show positive signs
Caner stresses, “The Region’s commitment continues to be oriented toward the enhancement of the territory and the promotion of sustainable and quality tourism, thanks also to the great work of the sector’s operators. Hotel facilities remain stable, while the non-hotel sector registers a 3.8 percent increase in presences thanks also to the important coordination work that has allowed us to track and regularize the facilities already present “.
The councillor concludes, “What emerges is a Veneto that is not only sea and art cities, but a region capable of offering authentic experiences in every season. The growth of the Prosecco Hills and Euganean Hills shows that tourists are increasingly seeking direct contact with nature, culture and local food and wine excellence. These results are the fruit of a regional strategy that focuses on the enhancement of the territory and the promotion of sustainable and quality tourism, capable of generating value for citizens and businesses “.
