With Christmas approaching, some European campsites are changing, opening their doors to guests eager to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. According to a recent survey by Adac ‘Christmas and New Year Offers’ there are now dedicated offers for those wishing to spend the Christmas holidays on a campsite. An astonishing 90.24 per cent of the campsite operators interviewed confirm that they will be open during the festive period, highlighting a growing interest in camping holidays even in the low season. And it is not just a question of staying open: 71.95 per cent decorated their facilities to immerse guests in the Christmas spirit, transforming their campsites.
What activities can camping tourists enjoy?
Aware of the needs and preferences of their guests, campground managers are organising a range of activities, creating an ideal environment for celebrating the holidays with the family. Some campsites will offer a programme dedicated to crafts, games and engaging activities for adults and children. Others, mostly northern European, will offer lantern parades around the fire and cosy evenings with traditional food. Mulled wine parties and traditional Christmas markets will not be missing on the campsites either, enriching the campers’ experience. Some campsites even offer free mulled wine to underline the winter atmosphere.
