Alberto Granzotto, president of Faita-Federcamping, spoke of the need to make tourism more accessible not only as a social goal, but also as an economic benefit. He did so during the Hospitality Hospitality Show in Riva del Garda. Granzotto pointed out that increased accessibility for people with disabilities can increase the turnover of campgroundsand resorts by up to 20 percent.
Italian campsites with DNA of inclusion
“Our facilities have the principle of inclusion in their DNA,” Granzotto said, explaining that significant investments and trainings aim to increase the culture of caring for people. The goal is to offeraccessible hospitality with tailored services, moving beyond previous concepts of “gray” design reserved for people with disabilities. The 16-year collaboration between Faita-Federcamping and Village for all V4A®, a network that addresses accessibility of accommodations, has encouraged businesses to invest in this direction.
In Europe130 million people are interested
Accessibility does not only affect people with disabilities but involves a wide audience. In Europe, 130 million people are affected, including people with disabilities, the elderly , and other groups such as the visually impaired, the deaf , and the so-called Silver Economy. The accessible tourism market is large and growing. Roberto Vitali, co-founder of Village for all V4A®, says that while disability can happen, accessibility needs are a certainty, whether for aging or temporary health situations. Quality service, information and staff training are keys to meeting these needs. Village for All V4A®️ has 80 facilities in Italy and Croatia, including hotels and campsites, distributed in 15 Italian regions. Some facilities, such as Union Lido and Holiday Village Florenz, have received international awards for their commitment to accessibility. In addition, Village for all V4A®’s Destination4All, such as Bibione and Jesolo in Veneto and Peccioli in Tuscany, have been investing in accessible tourism for years. Recently, Village for all staff V4A®️ presented guidelines on accessibility and inclusion in Cortina d’Ampezzo ahead of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, demonstrating an international level of commitment.
