ADAC Camping Awards 2024, here are the award-winning campsites!

The winners of this year’s ADAC Camping Awards have been announced. The awards recognizing Europe’s top campsites were unveiled during Friday evening’s PiNCAMP Gala in Stuttgart. Uwe Frers, Ceo of PiNCAMP, emphasized the importance of the ADAC Camping Awards to the camping industry: “This award is as important to the camping industry as the Oscars are to the film industry. With the ADAC Camping Awards, we honor the forerunners of the European camping industry“.

Who chose the winners of the ADAC Camping Awards.

Winners were chosen from hundreds of entries from the camping industry and selected by aninternational panel of 44 campingexperts in four thematic categories: Sustainability and Environmental Awareness, Innovation and Progress, Demographic Change, and ADAC Campground Accessibility and Reservation. In addition, Marco Knöpfle, founder of the ECOCAMPING camping network and a true personality of the European camping industry, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The highlight of the awards ceremony was the induction of Marco Knöpfle into the Hall of Fame. In his commendation speech, Uwe Frers celebrated Knöpfle’s lifetime achievements and his services to the development of sustainable and ecological tourism: “Marco Knöpfle set standards with the founding of the ECOCAMPING network initiative. Today, its association has more than 200 campsites throughout Europe as members. Its initiative promotes environmental protection and nature conservation, safety and quality in the European camping industry“.

Previously, the winners of this year’s ADAC Camping Awards were announced. The announcement of the ADAC Camping Awards 2024 was made by CrippaConcept. CrippaConcept is the largest manufacturer of mobile homes and lodge tents in Italy and is an official partner of PiNCAMP Camping Gala.

  • Winner in the “Sustainability and Environmental Awareness” category were Fornella Camping & Wellness Family Resort (Italy). With the “Fornella one Earth 2030” pilot project, Fornella Campground on Lake Garda has taken a bold and ambitious step toward environmentally conscious camping. The project is based on a cluster of seven sustainably designed mobile homes. The project offers a new, inclusive and sustainable outdoor vacation experience-a combination of environmental responsibility and attention to the well-being of camp guests.
  • Other nominees in the “Sustainability and Environmental Awareness” category the winners are Camping Beauregard Plage (France) and Camping The Quiet Site (UK)
  • Winners in the category of “Innovation and Progress” at Caravanpark Sexten (Italy). At Caravanpark Sexten in South Tyrol, it is the sum and variety of innovations and sustainability initiatives that make this flagship site the quality leader in camping in the Alpine region and in Europe. A 600-square-meter plaza with its own bathroom and butler service, an underground indoor natural stone pool with spa and beauty center, several luxurious tree houses , and a 13-meter-high indoor climbing wall are just a small selection of the Happacher family’s innovative work. Other nominees in the category of “Innovation and Progress” went to Camping Le Sérignan Plage Nature (France) and Camping & Resort Sanguli Resort (Spain).
  • The winners in the category “Demographic Change and Accessibility” are Camping de Wildhoeve (Netherlands). Camping de Wildhoeve, near Apeldoorn, is recognized as a very family-friendly site with excellent childcare facilities. Families with children with limited mobility, such as those with wheelchairs, will also find child-friendly and barrier-free facilities here, such as special wheelchair-accessible playgrounds, restrooms, and restaurants. The camp’s swimming pool also has reserved hours for the young and elderly with limited mobility. In addition, Camp de Wildhoeve is very active in getting less suitable people to work. Other nominees in the “Demographic Change and Accessibility” category were Campingplatz Haumühle (Germany) and Camping Salata (Spain).
  • Winner in the category “ADAC Camping Reservation” is Camping Čikat (Croatia). Camping Čikat is part of the Jadranka Group and is located on the island of Lošinj. Čikat is a prime example of a successful digital transformation in the camping industry. It was one of the first campsites in Croatia to introduce the option of booking a pitch or camper online. The guest explores, selects and books the desired pitch or accommodation online.
  • Other nominees in the “ADAC Campground Reservation” category were Camping Seeblick Toni (Austria) and Holiday Park Beerze Bulten (Netherlands). The presentation of the ADAC Camping Awards 2025 is again planned as a live event at the PiNCAMP Gala at the CMT in Stuttgart in January 2025.
