The camping sector is confirmed at the center of travellers’ choices. Sustainability, hospitality, flexibility are some of the characteristics that continue to drive campsites, placing them at the top of the choice of tourists.
Campings.com has tracked down five exact reasons that drive preferences:
- The ease with which it is possible to book spaces and structures, thanks to increasingly reliable, precise and performing portals.
- The lowest prices, which represent an undoubted advantage over more traditional and expensive hotel structures.
- The greater sense of freedom, guaranteed precisely by the absence of timetables that characterizes campsites as opposed to classic accommodation facilities.
- The deepest contact with nature, ensured by the strategic position occupied by the campsites within the contexts in which they are located.
- Maintaining one’s habits, even on vacation, which in turn allows tourists far from home to experience home comforts.

The summer period, just around the corner, is the favorite part of the season for campers. In Italy, unlike the rest of Europe, 42% will choose the month of August, 29% in July, 17% in June. The preferred destinations are the camping villages of Tuscany, 34%, Sardinia (14%), Puglia (11%) and Corsica (9%).
Here are all the reasons why camping villages are, once again this year, a point of reference for holidays in 2023. Statistics in hand, August could therefore represent a new boom period in bookings. A trend that proves to be contrary to the dynamics traced by the European Travel Commission, according to which many travelers would also have preferred to bring their holidays forward to the first months of summer, to avoid the August period.
