Campsites in Sardinia: new classification from one to five stars

More modern and sustainable standards are coming for Sardinia, an upgrade long overdue. It will be a reform that includes open-air accommodations, tourist villages and marina resorts. A modernization that involves greater protection for the consumer, and clearer rules for entrepreneurs. A classification of facilities with a rating grid from one to five stars will also be introduced.

To obtain the new classification, operators will be able to enter the technical data of their facilities with the assistance of their consultants. It should be noted that the deadline for owners of camping facilities, tourist villages and marina resorts to submit reclassification applications is November 29, 2025, through the portal info.sardegnaturismo.it.

This significant change of course was made possible by work done in synergy between the Sardinia Region and Faita Federcamping Sardegna. The meeting between technicians from the Regional Tourism Department and Faita representatives took place last week in Oristano, an audience of about 70 operators who addressed the main nodes of the reform, the result of the regional directives (Resolution No. 35/5 of October 25, 2023, implementing Regional Law 16/2017).

As Faita Sardegna President Nicola Napolitano pointed out to Cagliari Today, “This is a very important adjustment that protects consumers and enhances the investments of entrepreneurs, finally framed in an updated and homogeneous system.”

A work made possible by the synergy of the participants, as pointed out by Pierangelo Lucio Orofino, director of the Research and Development Observatory Service of the Tourism Department: “We listened to so many stakeholders and involved different departments. The result has already become a reference: our guidelines have also been taken as a model by the Ministry. The open-air sector, by number of beds, is dominant in Sardinia and deserved modern tools “.

Closing the proceedings was the chief of staff of the Tourism Department, Carla Medau, who said, “Reclassification is not just an administrative requirement: it is the result of long and painstaking work. Although few have signed up so far, we are confident that participation will grow, because the benefits are enormous. Open-air facilities are leading the way in experiential tourism, and the classification will also be essential for participating in regional and national calls for proposals “.
