The announcement was made at the Caravan Salon in Dusseldorf. The three pillars of the German open-air world have chosen to cooperate even more closely to strengthen the future of the camping and caravanning industry in Germany.
With the signing of the cooperation agreement, the associations are laying the foundation for planning a clear strategy that will further consolidate this leading sector of national tourism. The German camping world has more than 3,200 campsites, 5,400 camper pitches, more than 68 million overnight stays and a turnover of about 34.5 billion euros annually. An important reality on which it is necessary to invest and join forces.
The upcoming national summit dedicated to the camping world to be held in late November in Berlin will outline the main goals of the cooperation. Prominent among those already set are the expansion of infrastructure, the aim is also to update regulations to meet the specific needs of smaller campsites by simplifying their management, while larger facilities should be subject to stricter regulations. A further goal is to encourage open-air tourism related to caravans.
BVCD President Stefan Zierke, CIVD President Bernd Löher, and DCHV President Kai Dhonau agreed in unison these words, “The intensified cooperation between the three associations is a clear signal for a future-oriented alignment of the caravanning and camping industry in Germany.”
The signing of the agreement seals cooperation between the three most important German en plein air associations, a reminder to all those involved in the industry and a further incentive to join forces in order to further improve the national caravanning and camping industry, a driving sector of German tourism and economy.
