Croatian campsites recorded a record attendance in the 2022 season, with a +10% on 2019, when the previous record was set. The data was disclosed at the sixteenth edition of the Congress of Croatian campsites, held in Šibenik from 8 to 10 November. According to the statistics released by the Croatian Camping Union (Kuh), overnight stays reached almost 21.2 million, with an increase of 22% compared to 2021. Camping tourism therefore continues to confirm itself as one of the most successful segments in Croatia, in particular for the counties of Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Zara, which obtained the highest number of presences in open-air accommodation facilities.
The Congress of Croatian campsites, organized by Kuh, brought together over 350 representatives of the sector and was an opportunity not only to illustrate the statistics of the past season, but also to exchange views with colleagues on issues to work on to improve even more . “The competition doesn’t stop”, underlined the director of Kuh Adriano Palman. “To maintain the current position we must continue to invest and increase the quality in camping, and above all follow the new trends in the context of sustainability and digitization”.
During the congress, several crucial topics for camping tourism were addressed, including market trends, environmental sustainability, the digitization of businesses and non-repayable loans allocated by the Croatian government.
