At the ordinary meeting of FAITA Trentino, the centrality of the open-air sector in the Trentino tourism sector emerged: according to last year’s data, open-air hospitality is confirmed as a regional reference point, of national and international interest, capable of building the loyalty of an increasingly demanding clientele.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss achievements in 2024 and the many goals for the 2025 season. FAITA Federcamping Secretary Marco Sperapani and, in attendance, Confcommercio Trentino Director Massimo Travaglia also participated in the meeting via video link from Rome.
Trentino’s open air, a pillar of regional tourism
Campsites in Trentino intercept an international audience that gratifies an industry that is growing, but at the same time needs constant attention in order to be more competitive and stand out in an ever-changing tourism market.
FAITA Trentino President Fabio Poletti‘s speech confirmed the importance ofopen air and the positive data related to the last year, which was useful to draw a balance and highlight the key points needed to plan new strategies: “We have consolidated our presence on both the institutional and promotional fronts, but it is clear that an acceleration is needed: open air is no longer a niche segment, it is a pillar of the Trentino tourism economy. And for this it deserves simpler regulations, streamlined authorization processes and rules that can read the evolution of the market “.
Critical elements also emerged at the Assembly, which are equally important for planning targeted and strategic action: “We are a supply chain that is exposed to climatic evolutions, regulatory changes and economic uncertainties. The fight against squatting is still an unresolved issue, as is the slow implementation of simplifying regulations or interventions for true sustainability, the measurable “.
The importance of communication and training
The aspects that have consolidated the growth of theopen-air sector have also been made possible by marketing campaigns, carried out in cooperation with Trentino Marketing, and participation in major international trade fairs in the sector such as CMT Stuttgart, Reisen Hamburg, Free Munich and other important fairs.
In addition to communication, FAITA Trentino has focused and continues to persevere on training activities aimed at members, especially in strategic areas such as sustainability andmanagement innovation.
The excellent result achieved is the result of continuous planning and updating. Also speaking during the Assembly was the provincial tourism councillor, Roberto Failoni, who expressed full recognition of the role played by the camping industry: ” I have always had high regard for this sector. The camping world has shown over the years that it is dynamic, capable of renewal, investment and high quality hospitality. And today we can say, without a doubt, that open-air tourism is by no means a marginal segment, but a strategic component of our tourism system “.
The councilor also stressed the importance of working in synergy: “You are already doing so much and well. But today more than ever it is necessary to work as a system: institutions, associations and operators must work together to enhance a tourism that, in addition to creating employment and income, guarantees that Trentino will remain a living, welcoming territory capable of looking to the future without fear “.
