Online camping reservations , analyzed through Septeo Hospitality‘s monthly barometer, confirmed a positive start to the 2024 season. The period from October 2023 to the end of January 2024 showed a remarkable 23% compared with the same period in the previous year. January showed a 16 percent growth in bookings, reflecting the positive trendalready shown in December. A 23 percent increase was recorded from October to January, indicating a promising start to the season.
Lots of positive data
Average rent is up 2.2% to €1,296, while average space occupancy has remained stable at €631 (-0.2%). In terms of length of stay, a slight decrease was observed for rental spaces (-0.8%) to 8.37 days, while bare spaces saw a more pronounced decrease, dropping to 9.36 days (-5.2%).
Reservations by country in Europe
France, despite a slight decrease, still accounts for 59 percent of the overall booking volume. The German market remains stable at 9 percent, while the Dutch and Belgian markets show slight growth at 15 percent and 8 percent, respectively, at the end of January. Britain remains at 4 percent.
The seasonal trend
The breakdown of stays shows that more than 25 percent of stays are concentrated in August, with a slight growth from 2023. July shows lower volume than August and down from January 2023.
Low season outlook
In the off-season, bookings are expected to decrease in April compared to 2023, while May exceeds expectations. After a decline in late December, June shows a slight recovery in late January.
