San Marino focuses on outdoor holidays for the relaunch of tourism. Also in Titano it is intercepting the most popular trend of recent summers, that of the “holiday that breathes”, that is, stays in campsites that are open-air structures in contact with nature. For this reason, the Republic has launched a new project that provides for the creation, in 2023, of a network of trails and the organization of initiatives related to environmental hiking and outdoor sports. It can be read in the latest economic program of the government.
Outdoor tourism is a way of experiencing the holiday that is growing throughout Italy. Cycling tourism has increased above all, especially thanks to eBikes, together with bookings for open-air facilities such as campsites and tourist villages. Big numbers also for trekking and mountain trips.
According to the Italian National Tourism Agency, three out of ten people chose a nearby location this summer. The favorite destination remains the sea – with Emilia-Romagna among the most popular areas – and interest in outdoor activities is growing. One out of four citizens preferred to stay in Italy precisely to be in contact with nature, choosing concepts of sustainable tourism.
