Two locations that could be considered homologous when considered for their tourism vocation. Cavallino Treporti is Italy’s premier seaside destination and the European home of outdoor tourism, while ‘Overijssel, is a place to be for Dutch tourism and an increasingly sought-after destination for travelers from all over Europe.
And it was in this Venetian location that the Dutch delegation from ‘Overijssel was hosted, consisting of trade representatives, entrepreneurs and public administration representatives, two queens of open-air tourism meeting and comparing notes to grow the industry with new ideas.
The event, organized by Faita Federcamping Northeast, focused on the management of tourist destinations with a focus on the use of Big Data, fundamental tools for analyzing tourist flows, improving proposals for customers, and finding new solutions for increasingly sustainable tourism.
The event, moderated by Cornel Straver, Director of PiNCAMP, was held within the framework of the guidelines outlined in the Veneto Region’s Annual Tourism Plan 2025, specifically Objective 3.2, Strategic Line 3.2.2, dedicated to enhancing innovation and sustainability in tourism.
Present at the meeting were the respective mayors of the localities Roberta Nesto, first citizen of Cavallino-Treporti, and Mariska Linthorst for the Dutch municipality of Hardenberg. After the institutional greetings, the discussion among those involved in the open air sector opened.
Alberto Granzotto, president Faita Federcamping Nordest intervened stating, “This meeting is not the first, nor will it be the last that FAITA intends to organize. For us, it is a time for discussion and cooperation in light of the development that the sector is having throughout the European context. Colleagues and public administrators from Overijssel will have the opportunity to visit a significant cluster of campsites and resorts and, data in hand, make an assessment of the market trend. Together we will try to understand the main needs of the contemporary tourist, on which we need to focus in order to give continuity to the virtuous cycle of Cavallino Treporti so that we can transfer the experience to other realities as well “.
