Cavallino-Treporti: 2024 attendance comparable to 2023 season

Cavallino Treporti is Italy’s top beach destination for tourist attendance, a popular destination also for stays in outdoor facilities. In 2023, the numbers exceeded even Rimini, which has always ranked first among Italian seaside destinations, closing with 6,731,661 presences.

The year 2024 was also a real success, touching 6.9 million presences (partial data only until September). This is an excellent result that confirms Cavallino-Treporti as a highly attractive destination for tourists, especially for the open-air sector.

What emerges from the data analyzed is that the favorite months for the vacation period remain August, which leads the way strong with 1.8 million admissions, followed by July with 1.6 million and June with just over 1 million. What is new is the emergence of surprising off-season results such as May, thanks to the diversification of tourism offerings.

Cavallino- Treporti’s success is also due to the loyalty of Guests that goes hand in hand with the communication constantly maintained with users.

2024 record-breaking

City offices and the regional statistics office have been processing data these days on the tourist tax paid in 2024, on the one hand, and tourist movement on the other. Undoubtedly positive considerations are drawn from the data: despite the fact that bad weather severely affected the season’s queues, 2024 was overall comparable to 2023.

Confirming the results of the tourist season is Francesco Berton, President of Assocamping Cavallino-Treporti.: “Despite the unfavorable period of the holidays dear to German-speaking guests and weather that penalized us like the rest of the tourist resorts at the beginning and end of the season, the data tell us that 2024 was in line with 2023, which had shown a record summer.”

He adds, “The outdoor tourism sector, of which Cavallino-Treporti is the largest national expression, has maintained and confirmed its attractiveness, especially in foreign markets, but not only. The prospects for the sector are good, the market analyses produced by the universities show us that this sector is experiencing a golden moment, and we are also seeing this in Cavallino-Treporti “.

The Mayor Roberta Nesto emphasizes, “This year’s tourist presences, which somewhat copy the excellent result of 2023, show the great loyalty and enjoyment of this form of tourism. Of course, there is room for improvement, not in the attendance aspect, which already gives important numbers, but in the quality of work and quality of life. Two important themes. The quality of work also goes through seasonal adjustment, a strengthening of active labor policies, and also a better placement of our young people. On the other hand, quality of life means that we should not be managed by the flows, but manage the flows, which is why I have also asked the government for tools for mayors to manage these peaks: predict them, study them, plan them, and then manage them “.

Success: communication and varied offerings

As explained by Mattia Enzo, President of the Tourist Park Consortium., two types of communication are essential: for the loyal customer a traditional one, useful to inform him about the news that the accommodation facilities and the resort in general offers. The new customer should be recruited through new forms of communication, especially digital ones, without ever excluding the classic, but always effective, word of mouth.

Enzo points out, “Once the guest understands the scope of the area’s accommodation offerings, made up of excellent housing units and pitches with all the comforts, all surrounded by nature’s greenery, with top-quality services, a deep beach, and immersive experiences ranging from history, archaeology, and food and wine, they fall in love with it.

Also crucial to the record-breaking results achieved by Cavallino-Treporti is a tourist offer that includes not only sea and beach but a varied proposal of immersive activities. Confirming the effectiveness of this solution is the number of presences recorded in May (almost 826 thousand overnight stays), the accomplice of the holidays that marked a 29% increase over the previous year, and in September with 1.26 million overnight stays, even more than in June.

Paolo Bertolini, Vice president of the Tourist Park Consortium confirms, “The season went all in all well despite the fact that we are strongly tied to the weather. Here, however, we manage flows effectively, focusing above all on lengthening the seasons and thus avoiding the phenomena of overtourism that worries art cities instead. In fact, we do not focus our activities only on the high season, but we know how to create tourism opportunities even at the beginning and end of summer, periods that guests are increasingly beginning to appreciate “.
