With 100 million tourists coming from abroad, France, firmly maintains its leadership as the most attractive country for international tourism. Despite this position, at the meeting held in Angers of the French Interministerial Committee for Tourism (CIT) which was also attended by the FNHPA, the National Federation of Outdoor Hospitality, in the presence of Minister Bayrou, had to note how in competing with Spain in terms of revenue generated by the tourism sector, the latter manages to obtain much greater revenue: 126 billion versus 71 billion, albeit with a lower number of visitors, at 94 million.
During the meeting, it was stressed that tourism is fundamental as a lever of growth to be exploited by representing in the French economy 8 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 2 million direct and indirect jobs, and contributing positively to the trade balance. The need for actions planned by the transalpine government through the interministerial committee, led by the Minister Delegate for Tourism, Nathalie Delattre, “to consolidate” France’s position as a leading country in the coming years, will be presented in the coming weeks in order to “simplify” the industry’s regulations and strengthen “available funding” and “attractiveness” of tourism professions is will also include measures for “open air” tourism.
Regarding this specific sector, the need for robust development within the incentives that the French government will put in place was stressed. According to Prime Minister Matignon, “tourism resilience” will be based on accessibility that is more rooted in territories, based on: “heritage,” “know-how,” and “culture,” but also “more sustainable” and “more inclusive,” based in particular on a “clear decarbonization strategy.”
On this occasion, an industry contract on business tourism and events was signed with theFrench Union of Event Professions (UNIMEV), France Congrès et Evénements (FCE), Régions de France and France Urbaine, one of whose vice presidents is Mr. Béchu.
The provision of such measures, which among other things will provide for regulatory simplification in light reception, has been praised by the FNHPA, which in this way expects a revitalization of the best establishments in terms of accommodation quality. Also among the planned actions are greater guarantees for establishments regarding security deposits, which always represent a major management legal risk.
