Mangeruca Palace, the eco-moster that stood on Highway 106 in the territory of the municipality of Melissa, in the province of Crotone, has been torn down. A campsite will now be built in its place. Breaking the news was the town’s mayor Raffaele Falbo. The new facility will be named after Pythagoras. “Having reclaimed the area,” the mayor explained. it is our intention to leave a further sign of rupture, especially for future generations, a point of no return: through an urban installation that will consign to history the memory of this day of freedom, to name the new camping stopover area that will be built as part of the project funded by the Region of Calabria, to what is now considered the most important and most universally recognized Distinctive Identity Marker (MID) of Calabria that, to use Governor Occhiuto’s words, Italy and the world still do not expect: to Pythagoras and to that School of Crotone that left humanity that Theorem that every child in the world knows“.
A 700 thousand euro grant to revive the area
As written, a 35-seat camping area will be built in place of the eco-moster. The plan has already been funded with 700,000 euros that the Calabria Region will invest. “After so many years,” Mayor Falbo continued, ” we have finally put an end to one of the most intolerable and unwatchable building abuses along the 800 kilometers of our peninsula’s coastline.
